Top secret weaving project revealed!

Hello, friends. I hope that you and the people that are special to you are safe and well. 2021 is just around the corner. We’re almost at the finish line of 2020. Let’s hope that 2021 is filled with healing and positivity.

I mentioned in my previous blog post that I had a “top secret” weaving project in the works. And the rumors were true! Now that Christmas Day has passed I can share the item that I designed and gifted to my husband and two adult sons:

“Ginny’s Coat” woolen fabric flask cover

I learned a bit about sewing with thick, handwoven wool and leather binding. I also learned that it would have been preferable to gift flasks that actually had liquid content.

My husband did take the flask on a hike that we took recently and I am pleased to say that everything worked as it should. He especially liked holding the warm wool on a cold winter day. See here:

On the loom…I’m continuing with log cabin placemats. Burgundy wine mats are currently underway. I’ve also been thinking about some weaving that would be new for me to try this year, including rag rugs and some new merino/tencel scarves.

Thanks for checking in. I hope that you have a joyful and safe 2021.

Be well,

Kate K.
