Hello, friends. The 90th Annual League of NH Craftmen’s Fair is a wrap! Thank you to all of people who visited Mt. Sunapee in Newbury last week. The weather was great. It was by far the most pleasant Fair I’ve experienced since 2015 with temperatures in the mid-70s just about every day.
The collaboration that I did with my friend and colleague, Denise Kirk, garnered us an award for our entry in the Art, Craft & Design exhibition. We are truly honored. Denise knitted and felted a wool bag, and I made the adjustable strap with a coordinating woven band. Thank you to all of the generous sponsors who continue to support fine craft in New Hampshire.

The new-to-me Pro-Panel booth system performed very well. I managed to set the booth up on my own on the Thursday and Friday prior to the Fair’s first day. I even managed the track lighting system! The display racks really improved the visibility of my work. Here is a look at my booth set-up:

I am already back at the loom and looking forward to next year. I plan to weave more colorful scarves and shawls and have made several hefty yarn purchases toward this end. Here are a some photos, taken by photographer Charley Freiburg, of scarves from this year’s show:

Two special events are on tap for the month of October : the Monadnock Art Tour (Oct 7-9) and the joint exhibition between the NH Furniture Masters and the League of NH Craftsmen. I’ve been working with Furniture Master William Thomas of Rindge, NH on this project for the last couple of months. We are inching closer to finalizing a design and colors that will complement one of his pieces of fine furniture. I’m really getting excited about putting our vision onto the loom.
As it is Friday evening in our house, I will begin making preparations for pizza night. My husband and I met whilst working in an Ann Arbor, Michigan, pizza restaurant in 1987. We were both college students at the University of Michigan. We’ve been married since 1990 and every Friday night (with maybe a handful of exceptions), we have had pizza for dinner. There is some lovely basil from the garden that will be one of the topping ingredients for tonight.
Be well,
Kate K.

Kate!
Oh my gosh, the blue scarf is exquisite! All your work is so beautiful.
Best!
